Settle with Dignity: Legal and Human Rights Support for Migrants

Settle with Dignity, generously supported by The National Lottery Community Fund, provides accessible legal, social, and human rights guidance for our community, mostly migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers.

Our project aims to help individuals settle in the UK with dignity, confidence, and accurate information during a period of uncertainty and adjustment.

Details of the Project

We have supported the Turkish-speaking and wider immigrant community in Greater London through education, integration, and wellbeing initiatives since our foundation.
Building on the success of our previous Enhanced Cost of Living Hub project, this programme responds to a growing need for legal clarity, settlement support, and rights education among those who have recently arrived in the UK through asylum or visa routes.

Many community members face challenges such as complex paperwork, language barriers, and limited understanding of their rights.
Settle with Dignity addresses these challenges through a structured and compassionate support system — helping people navigate immigration, access public services, and understand their human rights.

Our Goals

The Settle with Dignity project focuses on:

Providing free one-to-one legal and settlement guidance to migrants and refugees
Offering clear, bilingual information on immigration, housing, health, benefits, and employment rights
Educating participants on human rights, anti-discrimination laws, and access to essential services
Reducing confusion and anxiety caused by complex legal processes
Empowering participants to take informed action and build confidence in their new lives
Building strong community networks that share knowledge and mutual support

Project Activities

Our 12-month programme includes both individual and group support, ensuring accessibility for all:

One-to-One Legal Support Clinics

Weekly sessions led by qualified support personnel
Practical guidance on immigration forms, benefits, housing, and family settlement
Confidential and multilingual support environment
Minimum of 10 individuals assisted through these weekly clinics.

Human Rights and Integration Workshops

16 workshops (4 in-person + 12 online hybrid sessions)
Cover topics such as immigration rights, anti-discrimination law, emotional resilience, and financial planning
Designed for families and individuals adapting to life in the UK
Hoping to reaches around 650 participants across Greater London and online

Community Resource Hub

Creation of bilingual legal and financial information kits
Easy-to-understand guides in Turkish and English
Shared digitally and in print through our website, WhatsApp groups, and partner organisations

Project Duration

September 2025 – August 2026, with the potential to extend if further funding is secured.
